Privacy Policy

Last updated September 3, 2026

Ask Adel is operated by an individual (a sole proprietor), not a registered company or corporation. This policy explains what information the Ask Adel website and course platform collects, why, and how it is used. It covers only the categories of data this platform actually collects — nothing more.

Information we collect

Account and profile information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form — we never store or can see your plain-text password). If you set a preferred name for certificates, that is stored separately from your account name.

Course enrollment and progress

We record which courses you are enrolled in, your progress through lessons, which lessons you have viewed and completed, and related timestamps, so the platform can show your progress and let you resume where you left off.

Quiz activity

If a course includes quizzes, we record your quiz attempts, the answers you submit, your scores, and whether you passed, so results and completion status can be calculated accurately.

Certificates

If you complete a course that offers a certificate, we generate and store a certificate record containing your certificate name, the course title, the instructor's name, and the completion date, so the certificate can be verified and re-downloaded later.

Payment records (PayPal)

When you purchase a course with PayPal, we store a record of that transaction — the amount, currency, status, and PayPal's own order/capture identifiers — so we can confirm your purchase and grant course access. We do not collect or store your PayPal password or full payment card details; those are handled entirely by PayPal.

Second Life avatar linkage and L$ purchases

If you connect a Second Life avatar to your account, we store your avatar's unique identifier (UUID) and name to link it to your website account. If you purchase a course using Linden Dollars (L$) through an in-world terminal, we store a record of that transaction — the amount received, the course, and the outcome — to confirm your purchase and grant course access.

Course content

Instructors and administrators upload and manage course material (titles, descriptions, lessons, images, and other files) through the platform. This content is not personal data about you, but is stored and served as part of delivering courses.

Server, security, and audit logs

Like most websites, our server records basic technical information for security and troubleshooting purposes — such as IP addresses, timestamps, and request outcomes — including for Second Life terminal activity and failed sign-in attempts. These logs are used to detect abuse and diagnose problems, not to track you for marketing purposes.

Cookies, sessions, and authentication

We use cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function: to keep you signed in, remember your session, and protect against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

How we use this information

We use the information above only to operate the platform: to create and secure your account, grant and track course access, process payments, issue certificates, respond to support requests, and keep the site secure. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who can see your information

Your account and progress information is visible to you and, where relevant to their role, to the instructor of a course you're enrolled in and to the platform administrator (the individual operating Ask Adel). Payment processing is handled by PayPal under its own privacy policy; L$ payment processing happens in-world in Second Life. We do not share your information with any other third party except where required by law.

Data retention

We keep account, enrollment, payment, and certificate records for as long as your account exists, and as needed to maintain accurate financial and completion records. If you would like your account data reviewed, corrected, or deleted, contact us using the details on our Contact page.
